I would like to talk about when I shared a bedroom with some new friends. About two years ago, I registered for a homestay for two months, because I wanted to improve my English by immersing myself in a place where people primarily use this language to communicate. This cheap method was a perfect fit for a student living on a tight budget like me.
I had five roommates, including two foreign friends, one from England, the other from the Philippines, and three more friends from Vietnam. At first, I did worry that the room wasn’t big enough for six of us, but in the flesh, it was spacious enough for us to bound around. I faced a language barrier at that time because I was still struggling with English. It took nearly a month to get acquainted with using English most of my time.
What surprised me was that everyone was so friendly, so even when we were like chalk and cheese from the start, we could quickly become bosom friends, and to be frank, we keep in touch up to now. I remember that we usually stayed up all night at the weekend to watch movies or just pass on gossip. But, sometimes, I felt annoyed because we had to fight over the only bathroom. My roommate had been there for over an hour, and I desperately needed to use the toilet, so we quarrelled. Luckily, we could reach a mutual concession.
Anyway, this experience has helped me kill two birds with one stone – I can improve my English and make friends simultaneously.

1. What are the consequences if children don’t like to share?
Well, I think anti-sharing children might become self-absorbed in the future, making it hard for them to adjust at school, college or workplace where much teamwork skills are required. Also, those children are less likely to show empathy toward others; sometimes, it would be challenging for them to put themselves in their beloved’s shoes.

2. How do you feel about sharing accommodations with others on campus?
