1. What do street markets sell?

everything under the sun, realy. wet markets in Vietnam typically sell fresh/ organic produce, like freshly butchered meat, locally grown vegetables and herbs, and so on. there are also markets that sell clothes, home goods, tech accessories, you name it.

  • fresh/ organic produce: nông sản hữu cơ
  • you name it: vâng vâng
  1. Are there many street markets in Vietnam?

Absolutely, Vietnam has many street markets in spades. They’re a crucial part of our culture, or Asian cultures, for that matter. Even though supermarkets and convenience stores have become ubiquitous nowadays, shopping for food at street markets still remains an indispensable part of many Vietnamese’day-to-day life.

  • have sth in spades: có nhiều cái gì đó
  • ubiquitous: ở khắp mọi nơi
  1. What are the differences between street markets and supermarkets?

there are a couple. First of all, street markets are much cheaper and thus you are more likely to get a better deal there than at supermarkets. Another obvious distinction is cleanliness - most supermarkets are squeaky clean while street markets are anything, but there are also certain products that you could only get at supermarkets and vice versa. For example, if you’re looking for pasta sauce, a supermarket is your best.

  • get a better deal: mua được đồ giá tốt hơn

  • cleanliness: sự sạch sẽ

  • squeaky clean: sự sạch sẽ bóng loáng

  • your best: lựa chọn tốt nhất

  1. Do you often go to the supermarket?

i’d say i go to the supermarkets fairly regularly, maybe once a week. I used to eat out all the time out of laziness, but lately I’ve been trying to be more disciplined and cook all my meals at home, and because of that I’ve been going to the supermarkets more often.

  • out of laziness: do lười

  • be disciplined: có kỉ luật
