Sample

I’m going to talk about a fictional character that’s been extremely popular recently and how he solved a game cleverly. His name, I believe, is Gi-hun, and he’s the main protagonist of a Korean dystopian drama called “Squid Game”. In the series, he was a gambler who’s in serious debt. Long story short, he was recruited to a tournament in which participants played children’s games to win a large sum of money. But the catch was that if they lost, they would lose their lives. 

In the second game they played, each of the players was given a round and flat piece of honeycomb candy. In the middle of the candy, there’s a shape made by stamping a mold on it. The goal of the game was to use a needle to pick away the shape without breaking it. Honeycomb candy is brittle, so this was no easy task. It was even more challenging for Gi Hun as his shape was an umbrella. 

In the beginning, he tried to painstakingly chip away the candy using the needle like the others. However, he seemed to run out of time because of the difficulty of the shape. Accidentally, a drop of his sweat dripped on the candy and softened it. He took advantage of that and started licking the back of the candy. The candy got softened to a point that he could separate the shape easily. 

This scene is really significant because for the first time, it showed the main character to be clever and resourceful as opposed to his earlier image of being a failure. I really like the fact that they show an ordinary person can also be smart.
